COMPANY SUMMARY:

Island Wide Painting is a family-owned painting service company operating since 2004. We offer interior and exterior-related painting services, mainly for commercial and residential spaces. We are currently looking for 2 dedicated and competent Painter Helpers to join our team to offer support on various painting projects and assignments to ensure they are executed in an excellent, safe and timely manner.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Painter Helper should be available to provide assistance and support to trained and experienced professional painters and work under their direction and supervision. They will be responsible for tasks such as preparing the location for painting, organizing supplies and other painting tasks as instructed. The ideal candidate is a quick learner and can receive and recall verbal instructions in English. Physical capacity to perform all assigned work is a must as the position is labour intensive and may involve heavy lifting, repetitive motions, and safe use of equipment.

 

JOB TITLE: Painter Helper

JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES:

  • Assist professional painters with various painting related tasks.
  • Load and unload painting supplies, required tools, and equipment, and transport them to and from work areas.
  • Prepare work areas by erecting and dismantling ladders, scaffolding, and barricades required for painting jobs.
  • Mix, pour and spread paint, primer, varnish, wax, and other materials as needed.
  • Support painters by sanding, scraping, or cleaning surfaces to ensure proper adhesion of paint.
  • Mask and cover furniture, floors, and non-paintable surfaces to protect them during painting operations.
  • Assist those operating heavy equipment in moving, setting up and taking down the equipment.
  • Safely operate power tools such as sanders, paint pumps, test and measuring devices.
  • Clean paintbrushes and rollers used for painting.
  • Clean job site and equipment used once the work is finished.
  • Remove and safely store hazardous materials.
  • Remove remains and other debris at painting sites using scrappers and other equipment.
  • Perform other activities at painting sites, as directed.
  • Apply paint or other materials, such as stains, lacquer, enamel, oil, varnish, etc. using brushes, rollers or spray equipment.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • No formal education requirements.
  • Related experience is an asset.
  • Will train the right candidate.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES:

  • Repetitive tasks.
  • Attention to details.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, and kneeling.

 

WAGES:  $24.00 per hour

HOURS OF WORK: 
40 hours per week

 

OVERTIME: One and one-half times the regular wage rate as per provincial regulations.

  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility and good Judgement.
  • Must be a team player, reliable and organized.
  • Must be available for all hours of operations and shifts including overtime and weekend work as required.
