Duties: 

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate the requirements.
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.
• Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems.
• Prepare layouts in conformance with building codes, using measurement tools.
• Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites, and survey building locations and levels.
• Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, moldings, and hardware.
• May provide instructions to trainees and supervise other workers. Maintain, repair, and renovate residences.
