A kitchen designer is essential to Gibson Greenwood because they bring specialized expertise in creating functional and aesthetically pleasing kitchen spaces that align with our commitment to design integrity. With our focus on precision and high-quality craftsmanship, a kitchen designer ensures that our millwork and furniture solutions meet both the practical and artistic needs of our clients. Their role is key in collaborating with architects, designers, and homeowners to develop customized plans that enhance the functionality of a space while maintaining the visual cohesion of the overall design. A dedicated kitchen designer helps Gibson Greenwood continue delivering award-winning results in some of Canada's finest homes.


Responsibilities of a kitchen designer at Gibson Greenwood Inc. will include, but not be limited to, the following:


• Collaborate with clients to understand their specific needs and preferences for kitchen design
• Design detailed kitchen layouts, millwork drawings, and production-ready construction documents in 2D using CAD software.
• Develop detailed 3D kitchen millwork models using SpaceClaim Software, ensuring they are optimized for production and fully compliant with AWI standards.
• Use 3D laser measuring tools to capture precise site measurements, ensuring accuracy and reducing errors during kitchen millwork installation.
• Suggest appropriate materials, finishes, and fixtures for kitchen projects.
• Generate accurate cost estimates and proposals for clients.
• Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and other key professionals to ensure seamless project management.
• Supervise the installation phase to confirm adherence to design plans and specifications.
• Perform site inspections to monitor ongoing project status and resolve any arising problems.
• Ensure that the design meets all relevant building codes, safety standards, and regulations.


The successful candidate for this position will have great presentation skills, is hardworking, and holds the ability to think analytically. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:


• 5+ years of experience in interior design projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D, 3D SpaceClaim software, and Adobe applications.
• Bachelor’s degree in architecture and/or interior design diploma.
• Experience in project management is a strong asset.


Please note that this position does not require you to be designated by the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (‘ARIDO’).


This is a full-time position with a fixed hourly salary of $34.10/hour, based on a 37.5 hour work week. Health and dental benefits are included. The successful candidate will be entitled to 3 weeks of paid vacation.
