Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and caring Early Childhood Educator Assistant for a full-time, permanent position at Redwood Academy, located at 11060 Horseshoe Way Unit 120, Richmond, V7A 4V5. In this role, you will collaborate with lead educators to support the daily activities and developmental needs of young children, helping create a positive and engaging learning environment. You will play a key part in fostering children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development through age-appropriate activities while ensuring a safe and inclusive space. Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing programs that promote children's physical, cognitive, emotional, and social growth.
  • Attend to children's daily care needs, including feeding, dressing, diapering, and toilet training, ensuring their well-being and comfort.
  • Prepare and organize classroom materials, equipment, and spaces for activities such as storytelling, arts and crafts, and playtime.
  • Observe and monitor children’s behavior and developmental progress, maintaining detailed records and sharing insights with educators or supervisors as needed.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and independence.
  • Follow and implement lesson plans and daily schedules based on the Montessori curriculum, engaging children in enjoyable and educational activities.
  • Support children in transitions between activities, providing guidance to help them feel secure and confident in the learning space.
  • Assist with light housekeeping tasks, meal preparation, and ensuring daycare equipment is clean and functional.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss children’s progress, behavior, and any concerns, collaborating with the team to ensure the success of each child.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines to maintain a safe and healthy environment for children.
  • Foster a positive classroom atmosphere that promotes respect, kindness, and inclusivity, ensuring every child feels welcomed and valued.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

 

Requirements

  • Completion of secondary school.
  • A genuine passion for working with young children and a commitment to their growth and development.
  • Early Childhood Educator Assistant certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
  • Patience, creativity, and the ability to engage with children in a positive and nurturing manner.
  • Previous experience in a childcare or educational setting is an asset.
