Maintenance Landscaper (NOC 22114)

Job Location:  Various locations in Calgary, Alberta

Wage: $21 to $23/hr (salary based on experience) (salary increases per company policy)

Experience: 1 year of relevant experience

Area of Work: Irrigation and drainage

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Attention to detail, Repetitive tasks, Handling heavy loads, Physically demanding, Manual dexterity, Bending, crouching, kneeling.

Weight Handling: up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots

Work Site Environment: Outdoors, noisy

Work setting: Landscape contractor, Various Locations

Equipment and Machinery Used: Roto-tiller, Trimmer, Lawn mowers, Small tractors (lawn/snow removal attachments), Backpack blowers, Push mowers, riding mowers, Walk behind mowers, Hedge trimmers, Hand tools. All pieces of winter pedestrian snow removal equipment including, but not limited to: sweepers, snow blowers and back pack blowers.

Duties:

• Water and tend to plants, lawns and/or gardens
• Apply fertilizers
• Apply various treatments such as pruning, spraying, repairing damaged areas and injecting with treatment solutions
• Assess the health of lawns
• Plant and maintain private and public lawns and gardens
• Cut grass, rake, aerate, dethatch, fertilize and water lawns, weed gardens, prune shrubs and trees and perform other maintenance duties as directed by supervisor
• Maintain lawns and grass along roadsides
• Clean snow and ice from walkways and parking areas
• Operate and maintain power mowers, tractors, chain saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, pruning saws, snowblowers and other landscape maintenance equipment
• Perform other manual duties to clean and maintain landscaped environments.
