Northern Motor Inn is currently seeking a proactive and team-oriented Sous Chef to provide culinary expertise and ensure efficient day-to-day operations of Northern Motor Inn.

Work Location: 3086 16 Highway East, Thornhill, BC V8G 3N5

Position Title: Sous Chef

Terms of Employment: Full-time, Permanent

Estimated Starting Date: As Soon As Possible

Position Available: 01

Wage: $34.75 ~ $35.75 per hour (Depending on Working Experience)

Work Hours: 30 hours per week

Benefits: 4 % Vacation Pay or 10 Business Days of Paid Vacation

Responsibility:

• Supervise activities of cooks and other kitchen workers
• Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff
• Prepare and cook complete meals or specialty foods, such as pastries, sauces, soups, salads, vegetables, and meat, poultry, and fish dishes, and create decorative food displays for special events such as banquets
• Instruct cooks in the preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation of food
• Create new recipes
• Plan menus and requisition food and kitchen supplies
• Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods.
• Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff

Qualification:

• Completion of secondary school is usually required;
• Cook's trade certification or equivalent credentials, training and experience are required.
• Sous-chefs usually require several years of experience in commercial food preparation.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and a great team player;
• Working knowledge of English.
