Position/Job Title: General Manager (NOC 00015)

Description: General managers in transportation organize, direct, control and evaluate, through middle managers, the overall operations of transportation companies such as shipping lines, municipal transit systems and trucking companies, utility, and transportation. They manage transportation freight traffic plan, evaluate companies or departments responsible for the transportation, movement of goods and formulate policies which establish the direction to be taken either alone or in conjunction with other members of a board of directors.

Job Location: Surrey, BC

Education: A university degree is required

Experience: Several years of experience as a middle manager in goods production, utilities, transportation, or construction.

Position: Permanent - Full Time

Number of Openings: 1

Wage: $52/hr.

Language: English is required.

Job Duties:

Establish objectives for company and formulate policies and programs.

Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the operations of the transportation company.

Set operations policies and standards, including determination of safety procedures for the handling of dangerous goods, and ensure compliance with transport regulations.

Organize the establishment of major departments and associated staff.

Oversee the dispatch, maintenance, and service of vehicles.

Represent the company or other official functions.
