Job Description

Read and analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables.
Examine sample parts to determine the required machining operations.
Plan the optimal sequence of operations.
Calculate dimensions and tolerances.
Measure and lay out workpieces accurately.
Set up, operate, and maintain various machine tools, including CNC machines.
Perform precise, non-repetitive machining operations such as sawing, turning, milling, boring, planing, drilling, and precision grinding.
Fit and assemble machined metal parts and subassemblies using hand and power tools.
Verify product dimensions for accuracy and compliance with specifications using precision measuring instruments.
Potentially set up and program machine tools for use by machining tool operators.
Check the dimensions of machined parts or tooling using specialized measuring instruments, such as micrometers, verniers, calipers, height gauges, optical comparators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
Report any deviations from specifications and tolerances to the supervisor.
Complete and maintain detailed inspection reports.
