Job Summary
The Early Childhood Educator Assistant is responsible for working as a team and providing a caring, safe, and nurturing environment as well as age-appropriate programs for children 6 months to 5 years of age. In collaboration with the teacher/activity group leader, he/she will implement the program’s aims and ensure that the individuals needs of every child are being met. He/she also has a responsibility to enhance the services by working collaboratively towards reviewing and achieving goals within the Centre’s quality improvement plan. Job Description and Duties:
â— Support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
â— Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts
â— Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
â— Assist with proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
â— Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors
â— Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties
â— Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children
â— May assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records.
Terms of Employment: Permanent; Full Time; Long Term
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week
Wages: $21.00 per hour
Overtime: One and one-half times the regular wage rate as per provincial regulations

â— Vacation pay as per provincial regulations will be paid each payday on a semi-monthly basis

Education, Experience and Language Requirements:
â— Completion of secondary school is required.
â— Some experience in childcare is required.
â— Completion of an early childhood education assistant related certificate program
â— Communication skills in English
