Job Summary:
This position is focused on building relationships through donor engagement, creating fund development strategies, supporting meaningful stewardship of our existing patrons, and providing leadership for our Philanthropy Services team.
With fund development as a key ‘driver’ for this portfolio, the Manager of Philanthropy is responsible for the strategic targeting of prospective benefactors, initiating new funding activities, establishing clear and impactful communications, and producing strong internal structures that support Archway’s strategic vision.
Your Role:
Archway’s Manager of Philanthropy with the Philanthropy Services Program contributes by:
- Developing and executing thoughtful strategies to engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward both prospects and donors. Attaining commitments of donation and/or participation from individual and corporate donors.
- Building and managing a portfolio of 200+ qualified donors and prospects with the capacity to give $25,000 - $10,000,000+ through one time or multi-year gifts.
- Working towards an annual fundraising goal of $2,000,000+ once the portfolio is fully developed (2-year strategy).
- Collaborating with the Philanthropy Services team to build a major donor pipeline, including qualifying and disqualifying leads. Through research and targeted prospecting efforts, identifying and cultivating relationships with new Foundations and Individual prospects.
- Attending community events, meetings, or conferences to promote organizational goals, solicit donations and sponsorships, and secure major donors.
- Contacting corporate representatives, major donors, or community leaders to increase awareness of organizational causes, activities or needs.
- Developing, implementing and delivering the annual Philanthropy operational plan inclusive of fundraising events and activities, timelines and budgets in consultation with the Director of Operations, Philanthropy Services team, the Finance team and other key partners.
- Collaborating with senior management to align Philanthropy Services strategies with agency annual budgets, strategic plans and organizational work plans.
- Providing strategic guidance and supervision to the Philanthropy Services team.
- Working collaboratively with the Marketing and Communications teams, ensuring strategic alignment and coordination of services.

Our Offer
- Wage: $43.00 per hour
- A permanent, full-time position at 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Flexibility in hours/schedule is required due to events and other activities that will require weekend and evening hours. This position supports the ability to work both in office with some days working remotely (hybrid).

Getting an Interview – you will be considered if you have:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with specialization in Fundraising/Philanthropy, Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, or Public Relations, or a current Certified Fundraising Executive (CFE) designation.
- A member in good standing of the Association of Professional Fundraisers of Canada (AFP).
- Experience working within a non-profit/fundraising environment.
- Experience managing a team.
- Experience in the charitable, non-profit sector is desirable.
- Experience in major gift cultivation and solicitation activity of gifts is preferred.
- Experience with planned giving is preferred.
- Experience using Raisers Edge NXT an asset.
The Job Requires you to have:
- Knowledge of fundraising best practices.
- Ability to analyze prospective donors and their gift potential related to an understanding of the community and market awareness.
- Demonstrated knowledge of CRA guidelines.
- Strong computer literacy; able to use a variety of devices, software and applications including Microsoft Office365.
- Demonstrated knowledge of donor software platforms.
- Well developed innovative, solution-focused thinking using available resources and/or entrepreneurial opportunities.
- Strong supervisory skills including coaching, mentoring, goal setting, problem solving, building relationships and trust, and creating autonomy and accountability.
- Demonstrated budgeting skills; able to create, manage and update budgets and review monthly financial statements.
- Ability to work with frequent interruptions; a strong ability to switch tasks is needed.
- A valid Driver’s License and satisfactory driver’s abstract.
- Access to a reliable vehicle.
- A satisfactory Criminal Records Check is a condition of employment.
