JOB SUMMARY:


As an AutoCAD Drafter atNorth Western Aluminum Ltd., you will be joining a dynamic team with over 40 years of combined glazing experience. From design and drafting to procurement, manufacturing, and installation, we pride ourselves on providing high-quality and efficient service to our clients. You will be an integral part of our team, responsible for working with clients to coordinate designs and models as per their given specifications. You will be meeting with architects and engineers to evaluate and plan designs/drawings while ensuring that construction management considerations are incorporated throughout the process. Additionally, you will be responsible for supporting the internal scheduling for project requirements and deadlines. Successful candidates will be familiar with residential, commercial, multi-family & mixed-use design projects.

 

JOB TITLE: AutoCAD Drafter

JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES:

  • Formulate, develop and produce precise construction designs and drawings by analyzing and synthesizing data from various sources, such as concepts, sketches, calculations and specification sheets
  • Create structural plans and construction details from sketches and markups provided by structural engineers
  • Utilize advanced computer software to create detailed building information models (BIM) that provide comprehensive digital representation of the physical and functional aspect of buildings and projects
  • Occasional travel and on-site field notes
  • Create as-built documents for projects after completion of construction
  • Operate advanced computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting workstations to generate design sketches, complete documentation packages and produce detailed drawing sets
  • Create accurate quotes using construction plans and specifications
  • Produce in-depth technical reports and create layout drawings to document and communicate design findings and recommendations for client review
  • Organize records for all estimating and design projects
  • Prepare and develop comprehensive contracts, tender documents, construction specification, cost estimates and material lists to support effective design implementation
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the drafting team including training and oversight to ensure high-quality work is delivered
  • Other related duties as required

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completion of Secondary School is required
  • Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • 1+ years of relevant experience with computer aided drafting programs such as AutoCAD, preferably in the commercial and residential construction industry
  • Able to read, write and speak in English

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Experience with AutoCAD, interpreting design plans and reading blue prints
  • Basic understanding of general construction practices
  • Strong mathematical and computer skills
  • Good communication skills and a strong sense of professionalism when interacting with crews, engineers, land surveyors and clients
  • Demonstrate organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Work effectively independently as well as part of a team

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Permanent Full-time, Long-term.

 

WAGES: $32.00 per hour

HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week

 

OVERTIME: One and one-half times the regular wage rate as per provincial regulations.

 

BENEFITS PACKAGE:

  • Insurance from Workplace Safety and Insurance Board covered by the employer.
  • Vacation pay as per provincial regulations will be paid each payday on a semi-monthly basis.
