Job Summary:

The Child Care Worker will plan and implement a developmentally appropriate childcare program, offering a nurturing environment for the care of children encouraging their intellectual, physical, and emotional growth. This position will require knowledge of the Early Learning Framework and will work in close cooperation with the Child Care Supervisor, school staff and other Child Care Workers.

Your Role:

Archway’s Child Care Worker with the Eagle’s Nest Early Learning Centre contributes by:

  • Supervising the Eagle’s Nest Early Learning children and carrying out developmentally appropriate activities and experiences for the children, which may include indoor/outdoor, active/quiet, individual and group activities.
  • Utilizing guiding techniques which include modelling, observing, questioning, demonstrating and reinforcing.
  • Attending to the children’s physical needs which may include toileting, eating, sleeping, wiping noses, and other basic needs.
  • Attending to children’s psychological and emotional needs which may include cuddling, rocking, holding infants and children.  Provides a caring, nurturing environment.

Getting an Interview – you will be considered if you have:

  • Infant Toddler license to practice.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience.
  • Understanding of the BC Early Learning Framework.
  • Knowledge and awareness of Indigenous learning.

The Job Requires you to have:

  • Knowledge of early childhood development (ages and stages).
  • Familiarity with Childcare Licensing Regulations as indicated in the Community Care and Assisted Living Act.
  • Ability to work in an environment of high-level noise and distractions from children.
  • Ability to pay close attention to children’s physical and emotional needs.
  • Moderate physical activity ability, involving walking, standing, bending and lifting children up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to work outside normal office hours, including evenings.
  • A First Aid certificate is a condition of employment.
  • A satisfactory Criminal Record Check is a condition of employment.
