Job Summary:

The Community Living Support Worker is responsible to assist individuals with diverse abilities (diagnosis of developmental disability and/or autism spectrum disorder) participate in social and recreational activities, and/or volunteer work experience opportunities within the Discovery program and within their community. This position includes connecting the individuals served to community resources and providing a variety of daily activities, with the view of helping each person served strive for further independence, inclusion, and improved quality of life.

Your Role:

Archway’s Community Living Support Worker with the Discovery Program contributes by:

• Providing social, recreational and skill building opportunities that are reflective of each individual’s interests; offering support, guidance, and instruction to facilitate participation.
• Ensuring all activities are delivered in accordance with the philosophies of Archway and Community Living BC.
  • Providing personalized care to individuals in a dignified manner.
  • Connecting with individuals via telephone and video conferencing.
  • Meeting with individuals for outreach services where they are located in the community.
  • Accompanying and/or transporting individuals to activities.
  • Maintaining daily progress notes and other documentation, ensuring all required documentation is complete and accurate.

This position is a great fit for someone who has great interpersonal helping skills, good communication skills, excellent relationship building and networking skills, and has good organization and time management skills.

Getting an Interview – you will be considered if you have:

• Diploma in human services, OR currently studying for a diploma in human services, OR equivalent education and experience.
• Work experience supporting persons with diverse abilities.
• A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and satisfactory Driver’s Record.

The Job Requires you to have:

• Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination.
• A satisfactory criminal record check is a condition of employment.
• Ability to work on site, and meet people in person.
• The ability to drive an Agency vehicle.
• Ability to use virtual meeting platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Cisco WebEx.
• Excellent organization, time, and general management skills.
• Well developed interpersonal helping skills, and good communication skills.
• Excellent relationship building and networking skills, and ability to build rapport with individuals, families/caregivers, and team members.
• The ability to work with individuals in both the Discovery and Individualized programs.
